Four student-athletes nominated for Detroit Free Press Sports Award: Stark, Rehm, Grzymkowski, and White

Last night, 4 student-athletes, all recent graduates of Lakeland, were honored at the Detroit Free Press Sports Awards ceremony in downtown Detroit.

Up to 8 female and 8 male athletes are nominated for each competitive sport conducted during the high school year.

Grace Stark was selected as the Female Track & Field Athlete of the Year for 2019. Stark recently won her second consecutive State Championship in the 100m hurdles.

Harrison Grzymkowski and Madeline Rehm were each nominated in the Cross-Country Athlete of the Year categories. Both finished in the top 4 at this past fall's State Meet. Last weekend, both earned All-State honors in the 1600m and 3200m races respectively at the Track & Field State Meet.

Katie White was nominated for Girls Skiing. She was 8th in the Giant Slalom and 12th in the Slalom at this year's State Finals.
