Boys Junior Varsity Soccer defeats Walled Lake Central, 1-0

Eagles Win: 1 - 0
Wednesday, the Boys Junior Varsity Soccer defeated Walled Lake Cental 1-0 in its final match of the season. In the 7th minute, Felipe Martinez headed a dangerous Central corner kick away from the net. Less than a minute later, he headed another shot away from the goal.  5 minutes later he kicked another Viking's corner kick to clear it out of the danger zone.  In the 19th minute, Ricky Beltran had a throw in that would up near the goal, and then after a momentary scrum, the Vikings knocked it in to their own goal, making the score Eagles 1, Vikings 0.  With just over 3 minutes left in the half, Central nearly scored the tying goal, but just hit the crossbar, leaving the Eagles up 1 zip at the half.  Martinez again kicked the ball to safety off of a free kick in the 39th minute.  In the 47th minute, Brian Orjendiz had a nice shot, but Vikings Keeper Noa Madsen was able to stop him.  In the 54th, Eagles keeper  Alec Waldman had his 5th save for the night.  Martinez blocked another one of the Vikings 11 shots for the night a minute later.  The Vikings tried for a buzzer beater to tie the score but shot wide.   With this final victory of the season, this brings the JV Eagles to an outstanding 16-2-1 record!  Over the course of the season outscored their opponents 56 to 5.  That means they outscored their opponents by a factor of 11+!  They mercied one game, and almost did it a second time. Any team that did score on the JV Eagles, our defense kept them to a single goal!   Truly a great season!  Congrats to JV Coach Tyler Lauer and all of the boys for their hard work all season long!

Wednesday, the JV Boys Soccer team beat Walled Lake Northern in the "Battle of Bogie Lake."  In the 3rd minute, Justin Bidwell knocked one in.  Ian Scarlett came close in the 12th minute, his shot just being deflected by the crossbar so the score at the half remained 1 to 0.  In the second half, Vassily Wade scored which was the final goal of the game. While the Boys JV team ended regular Lakes Valley Conference season matches last week with a 7-1-0 record, this improves their overall season record to 14-2-1 and they have outscored all of their opponents (tournament, preseason, non-conference, conference and post-season matches) by an amazing 50 to 4, having shut out their opponents in 13 of 17 games!  Their next match is tonight, Thursday October 4th at 5:30 in Farmington.

Monday, the JV Boys Soccer team beat the Milford Mavericks, 3-0. Ricky Beltran scored in the 3rd minute off a pass from Anthony Flevaris.  The Flevaris to Beltran combination did it again in the 10th minute.  Beltran got his hat trick off a pass from Ian Scarlett in the 51st minute.    While the Boys JV team ended regular Lakes Valley Conference season matches last week with a 7-1-0 record, improving their overall season record to 13-2-1.  For the season, they have outscored all of their opponents (tournament, preseason, non-conference.  conference and post-season matches) by an incredible 48 to 4.     Their next match is a Battle for Bogie Lake, Wednesday night 10/3/18 at 5:30 vs. Walled Lake Northern followed by a match against Farmington on Thursday night.

Eagles Win: 4 - 0
Last Thursday, the Boys JV Soccer won its final Lakes Valley Conference match of the season, defeating Walled Lake Western 4-0 which secured first place for the conference.    The match started with a Ricky Beltran goal in the 4th minute.  Ian Scarlett followed up with another goal off a pass by Beltran in the 10th minute.  Just two minutes later, Anthony Flevaris got one as well, making the score 3 to 0 at the half.  The Warriors offense woke up at the start of the second half, giving the Eagles' defense a workout, but Lakeland kept it under control.  At the 59th minute, Flevaris got his second goal of the night.  Then, with just 3 seconds left on the clock, Western's Salomon Baert tried to tap in a goal, but Eagles' Keeper Alec Waldman's diving grab saved the day.  This brings the Eagles JV team to a Lakes Valley Conference final record of 7-1-0, and an overall season record 12-2-1.  They have outscored all of their opponents (tournament, preseason, non-conference and conference matches) by a staggering 45 to 4.  
Boys Junior Varsity Soccer defeats South Lyon, 3-0

Eagles Win: 3 - 0
Tuesday, the Boys JV Soccer team defeated South Lyon, 3-0.  In the 18th minute, the Lions fired a shot which hit the top of the goal, but rather than being deflected away, the ball started to drop straight down in front of the net where several Lions players were waiting.  Keeper Alec Waldeman saved a potential goal by batting the ball down and Liam White cleared it out the box from just in front of the net.  The score was tied at the half 0 to 0.  Just after the start of the second half, in the 37th minute, Ricky Beltran scored off a pass from Pranav Narayanan.  Beltran scored again in the 43rd minute off of Ian Scarlett's pass.  Anthony Flevaris scored the Eagles final goal with just over a minute remaining in the game. The Eagles outshot the Lions 12 to 5.  This brings the Eagles JV team to a Lakes Valley Conference record of 6-1-0, and an overall season record 11-2-1.  They have outscored their opponents by an amazing 41 to 4.  Their next match is at home, Thursday, 9/27 against Walled Lake Western.

This past Monday night, the Boys JV Soccer team competed in a non-league match against Clarkston.  It was a defensive battle ending in a 0 - 0 tie. With 11 minutes remaining in the first half, goalkeeper Alec Waldman made a huge save to keep the Wolves off the scoreboard.

Eagles Win: 4 - 1
Last Thursday, the Boys JV Soccer team defeated Waterford Mott, 4-1. It was a fairly even match until the Eagles Ricky Beltran scored in the 16th minute.  Four minutes later, the Corsairs' Angel Iniguez answered our goal with one of their own leaving the score tied 1 all at the half.  In the second half, the Eagles opened it up. Ricky Beltran scored again in the 42nd minute.  That was followed up in the 49th minute by a goal from Brian Ojendiz assisted by numerous people in front of the net.  Ojendiz scored again in the 52nd minute off an assist by Beltran.   This brings the Eagles JV team to a Lakes Valley Conference record of 4-1-0, and an overall season record 10-2-0.  They have outscored their opponents by an amazing 36 to 4 margin.  The boys hope you'll turn out to see them AT HOME on 9/17/18 vs Clarkston (non-league match) and South Lyon East on 9/20/18, both games at 5:30 PM.

Tuesday night, the Boys JV soccer team traveled to Milford to take on the Mavericks.  The first half ended tied at 0 - 0. But as the temperatures began to cool down, the game started heating up.  Brian Ojendiz scored the winning goal off an assist by Ricky Beltran for a final score of 1 to 0.  The defense limited the Mavericks to just one shot on goal the entire game while the Eagles took 11 shots.  This brings the Eagles JV team to a Lakes Valley Conference record of 3-1-0, and an overall season record 9-2-0.  They have outscored their opponents by an amazing 23 to 2 in non-tournament matches.  Their next game is on Thursday, 9/13 at Waterford Mott starting at 5:30 PM followed by next week's Home games vs Clarkston (non-league match) (9/17) and South Lyon East (9/20), both at 5:30 PM.

Eagles Lose: 0 - 1
Thursday night saw the Boys JV Soccer team in a tough match against the Walled Lake Central.  The Eagles dominated the first half, allowing no shots on goal, while attempting 7 shots, the half ending tied at zero. Unfortunately, the Vikings woke up in the second half with Vikings number 34 Meekel Riney putting one goal on the board with 5 minutes remaining in the game. That was to be the final score 1 to nothing, a heart-breaker of a loss.  Eagles number 9 Ricky Beltran had 8 shots on goal, followed by number 2, Brian Orjendiz, with 2 attempts, and number 5, Anthony Flevaris, with 1 shot.  The team's next game is at Milford on 9/11 at 5:30. Please come out and support!

Lakeland JV soccer team again dominates in the second game of their season.  The heat was stifling but slowly and with consistently strong plays were made and they continued to score to a final score of 7 to 0 on Waterford’s home field.

SOCCER JV EAGLES  OFF TO A GREAT SEASON - BEATING WALLED LAKE NORTHERN   The JV 'Boys in Blue' were triumphant in this year's only Battle of Bogie Lake, beating Walled Lake Northern 3 to 0 in Lakeland's season opener at home.   No. 21 Ian Scarlett scored first off a corner kick by No. 5 Anthony Flevaris. No. 9 Ricky Beltran scored next making the half time score 2 zip. In the second half No. 17 Conner Kosidlo scored to put the game away, 3 to 0.   This victory comes off an 8 to 0 mercy victory just the day before in a preseason match-up with Farmington Hills Harrison High School.
