Thursday, the scorekeepers were kept busy today during two high-scoring contests between the Lakeland and Milford Varsity Softball teams. The Eagles lost the opener, 12-9, but came back to win the second game, 16-15.

Game #1: Milford 12 Lakeland 9

Lakeland put up five runs in the fifth inning. The rally was led by home runs by Ally Carlson and Payton Grange and a fielder's choice by Summer Ambler

Lakeland Lakeland Softball Varsity racked up 13 hits. Grange, Elizabeth Langley, Natalie Gizoni, and Ambler each had multiple hits for Lakeland. Grange went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Eagles.

Game #2 Lakeland 16 Milford 15

The second game started off slow and Lakeland was down 15-7 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning; however, the Eagles went on to score 9 runs in that inning. Key hits came from Langley, Grange, Chelsea Weatherford, Sophia Shaw, and Carlson. The final key hits were a 2-run homer by Jordan Cook, followed by another 2-run shot from Grace Glossinger to put the Eagles up 16-15.

Summer Ambler started off the game pitching with Payton Grange coming in 5th and 6th inning and Ambler finishing it off in the 7th. Great defense was provided by center fielder Campbell Sherrill and Chelsea Weatherford behind the dish.
