The Lakeland Varsity Eagles (4-0) hockey team handled the Walled Lake Western Warriors (1-2) to garner their fourth win of the season on Wednesday night at Lakeland Ice Arena, winning 6-1.   

The Warriors drew first blood on a bouncing goal to beat freshman goalie Paul Baker early in the first period.   But that was all the Warriors could muster as the Eagles responded with six unanswered goals - two in each period.

Luke Weinberger managed his third hat trick of the season with help from Cam Slicker and Matthew Zaremba.   Zaremba also netted two of Lakeland's four power play goals of the night.  Junior Jacob Lewis contributed with an end to end drive to sneak the puck by Western's William Virtamo unassisted.   Senior captain Nick Hrobsky showed off his playmaking skills notching assists on the final three goals of the evening.

Baker turned back 14 of 15 shots to earn his second win. 

Coach Ronayne on the win: "Western is a hard skating and hard hitting team.  Their goalie made us earn every goal.  We just told our guys to be patient and stick with the game plan and the goals would come.  We got a couple of skaters back on the active roster and that helped even things out for us.  Our power play showed up tonight as well."

Lakeland next meets reigning three time LVC league champs SLU this Friday at the KVIH.
