Tuesday, February 10th, the Girls JV Basketball team hosted Walled Lake Western. The game started out very close with both teams scoring from the field but coming up empty from the free throw line.  Morgan Ross, Hayden Pawlak, and Scholastica Usen scored in the quarter to keep the game tied 6-6 after the first quarter.  Lakeland started pulling away in the second quarter, outscoring the Warriors by five, taking a 17-12 lead going into halftime.  Usen led the charge with 4 in the quarter supported by Jaylyn Rhines and Annika Chinavare.  Alila Gjokaj scored on a nice driving right-handed layup and Mya Montowski hit a 14-ft jumper as well for their first points of the season.

The second half was dominated by the Eagles as they figured out the Warriors offense limiting them to 6 points total in the half and only a single free throw in the third quarter.  At the offensive end, Lakeland broke it open in the third quarter led by Pawlak, Ross, and Chinavare.  Lily Wang and Payton Gignac got on the score sheet in the fourth quarter as 9 Eagles scored in the 35 – 18 win.
