Friday, January 30th, the Girls JV Basketball team traveled to Milford and came home with a 25-21 victory, finishing the season sweep of the Mavericks.

This game started out very differently than the previous meeting where the Eagles were able to jump out to and early double-digit lead.  This time around the teams were tied 7-7 at the end of the first quarter with Milford scoring just before the end of the quarter.  The second quarter remained tight with Lakeland dealing with foul trouble in their backcourt.  Annika Chinavare led 6 Lakeland scorers with five-points in the half allowing Lakeland to take a 15-14 lead.  In the third quarter the Eagles outscored the Mavericks 6-2 to take a 5-point lead (21-16).  Lakeland only scored 6 points but really owned both ends of the court.  The flow of the game changed in the fourth quarter with many fouls being called.  The Mavericks were able to convert on 5/8 attempts, but the Eagles were able to score just enough to come out with the 25-21 win.  Early season lessons learned helped the Eagles to keep their composure to get the road win.
