Tuesday, January 27, the Girls JV Basketball team traveled to Troy Athens to take on the Red Hawks in a non-conference matchup. The Red Hawks came out quickly jumping out to a 12-2 lead after the first quarter and pushed that lead to 18-4 at halftime. The Eagles played better than the score indicated as the Red Hawks converted at a very high rate on Lakeland's turnovers. The third quarter the Eagles were able to find the range with four different players scoring. Unfortunately, the Red Hawks extended their lead (32-11) by shooting 86% from the free throw line while Lakeland managed 20%. The fourth quarter was even between the two teams with Athens cruising to a 38-17 victory.
