Friday January 16th, the Girls JV Basketball team kicked off January’s road trip off with a 38-10 loss at South Lyon East.  

The first quarter was evenly played to start.  Lakeland was able to get few turnovers and was able to break South Lyon East’s press for four points by Morgan Ross and Hayden Pawlak.  Despite the early success – the Wildcat’s press generated deflections, turnovers and scoring opportunities that created a 13-4 lead at the quarter.  In the second quarter, Lakeland passed the ball well in their half court offence but was only able to muster a single free throw by Annika Chinavare.  South Lyon East continued to press, generating turnovers, extending their halftime lead 24-5.  In the second half the Wildcats stayed in their half court trap which the Eagles were able to handle relatively well but were only able to score two baskets and a free throw in the half by Jaylyn Rhines, Payton Gignac, and Peyton Foote.
