Tuesday, December 16th, the Girls Junior Varsity Basketball team hosted Brighton at Szott Field House East. A very physical Bulldogs team owned the paint and free throw line, handing the Eagles their first home loss of the season, 38-10
The Bulldogs applied full court defensive pressure from the start that the Eagles handled well at times but allowed the visitors to jump out to a 12-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Eagles scoring drought continued in the second quarter until Payton Gignac was able to hit a fast break layup just before the half. Coming out of halftime, Lakeland had good energy on both ends of the floor causing turnovers and scoring 6 points by Jaylyn Rhines and Morgan Ross. The Bulldogs were not going to be denied though, keeping the Eagles scoreless in the fourth quarter cruising to a 38-10 victory. Some very good progress though by the Eagles learning what it will take to win games in the future.
