Tuesday, January 28th, the Girls JV Basketball team hosted South Lyon East, defeating the Cougars for the second time this season earning a 32-18 win.  Starting out the game, the Cougars came out strong jumping out to a 5-0 lead early.  The Eagles responded well by clamping down on the defensive end, not allowing any more points in the quarter allowing two scores by Melanie Hudspeth and Sammy McDonald to tie the game at 5-5 at the end of the quarter.  The second quarter was owned by the Eagles who were the much more aggressive team on both ends of the court.  This aggressiveness generated 10 free throw attempts led by Morgan Dial (4 made / 6 attempts) allowing Lakeland to take a 16-9 lead into halftime.  Lakeland came out in the second half with good energy expanding the lead in the quarter by 3 (23-13).  The Eagles continued to play well in the fourth quarter, continuing to do the little things well including great energy from the bench.  Lakeland scored 9 points in the quarter including 5 from Jaylyn Rhines and 2 from Morgan Ross.  Overall, a very good effort with Lakeland coming out on top 32-18.
