On January 18th, the Lakeland wrestling team competed in the Lakes Valley Conference team championship in the Lakeland fieldhouse.
In the opening match Lakeland’s varsity lost to South Lyon 45-34. Lakeland wrestlers won 6 of 14 matches.
In the second match for 3rd and 4th place Lakeland beat Walled Lake United 47-27 winning 9 of 14 matches and taking 3rd place in the conference.
Kettering beat South Lyon 42-30 in the finals to earn the LVC team championship.

106 lbs-Andrew Day: 1 win, major decision
113 lbs-Ben Rickard: 1 win, forfeit
120 lbs-Sam Broome: 2 wins, pin, forfeit
126 lbs-Matt Eblen: 2 wins, pin, forfeit
132 lbs-Mustafa Al-freeji: 1 win, major decision
138 lbs- Mark Smith: 1 win, decision
144 lbs- Seth Zimmerman: 2 wins, major decision, forfeit
165 lbs- Jordan Lancaster: 1 win, pin
165 lbs- Vince Juhasz: 1 win, pin
190 lbs- Everet Ross: 1 win, pin
215 lbs- Zach Sutherland: 1 win, pin
285 lbs- David Clayton: 1 win, pin
It was also senior night honoring Lakeland’s 6 senior wrestlers: Tyler Grabczynski, Mark Huntoon, Jordan Lancaster, Jake Law, Everet Ross, and Seth Zimmerman.
Lakeland’s JV wrestlers also competed in several matches against Kettering, South Lyon and Walled Lake opponents. The JV wrestlers won 15 of 18 matches.

On Saturday Jan 21st we will host the annual Lakeland invitational
tournament. All the Lakeland Varsity and JV wrestlers will compete. We will also be holding a fundraiser to support Luke Jaworski (2022 Lakeland graduate) in his fight against cancer. Come out and watch the team compete in the Fieldhouse and donate to Luke’s cause.
