Boys Varsity Tennis wins MHSAA Regional for first time in school history; 9 players earn 1st place finishes

Game Date
Oct 7, 2021

On Thursday, Lakeland Boys Tennis competed in the regional tournament hosted by Fenton. The team was split up with singles players playing at Fenton High School and the doubles team at Hartland High School. All players played their final matches at Fenton to a very supportive crowd of parents, family members, friends and fellow teammate (Nick Broome, thanks).

They faced tough competition throughout the day from the 6 other schools in this regional. The boys knew going in that the day was going to be challenging and that they needed to give 110% during each point played. All 8 flights made it to the finals, helping Lakeland earn the rights to call themselves Champion at the end of the day. This is the first time in Lakeland history that the tennis team won Regionals and earned their place at states.

At the end of the day, Lakeland earned a total of 22 points, with Flushing earning second place with 15 points. With this win, the Lakeland boys tennis will now travel to State competition in Holland, Michigan on October 15-16.
