Last Thursday, the Varsity Softball team returned to the diamond for its first action since 2019.
The Eagles traveled to Stoney Creek and defeated the Cougars, 17-1. Senior Mckenna Bergman drove in 5 runs, including 4 on a grand slam.
Most of the damage came during a 10-run second inning which featured singles by Grace Glossinger and Campbell Sherrill, a walk by Sophia Shaw, Bergman's grand slam, an error on a ball put in play by Summer Ambler, and a double by Glossinger.
Ambler handled things on the mound for Lakeland, surrendering only one run on two hits over three innings, striking out four and walking zero.
As a team, Lakeland had 10 hits for the day with Bergman, Sherrill, Glossinger, and Natalie Gizoni each with 2 hits.
