Saturday, the Girls Track team competed in the Lakes Valley Conference Championship Meet at Waterford Kettering High School. The Eagles, behind a number of 1st Place finishes, ended up in 2nd place overall.
The Girls team showcased its strength in the sprints and in the distance races, winning several events. Senior Grace Stark, nearly at full strength following an injury, won a competitive 100m hurdles race, finishing in a time of 14.58.
Senior Madeline Rehm took first in the 3200m race (10:58.05) and 4th in the 1600m (5:08.36) She also ran the anchor leg of the 1st place 4x800m relay team, joining Rylee Lukes, Lauren Garbovits, and Aria Novello (9:50.79).
Junior Sarah Daniel continued to have a strong season, taking 1st in the 100m dash by just 2 hundreths of a second (12.93). Daniel finished 2nd in the long jump, setting a new personal record with a jump of 18'3". That currently stands as the 2nd best jump in the entire state this season behind only Kennedy Jackson, the athlete who took 1st yesterday.
Daniel also contributed to the first place 4x100m relay team, joining sophomores Alexa Styranec, Nicole Graham, and Callie Shanahan (51.69).
The 4x200m relay team also earned All-Conference honors by placing 3rd in a time of 1:52.41. Stark and Shanahan were joined by senior Hannah Turnage and freshman Emily Keller in that race.
Lukes also earned individual All-Conference honors by finishing 2nd in the 800m (2:22.23). Senior Valerie Ndakwah earned All-Conference honors by taking 3rd in the shot put with a toss of 31' 1.5". Nicole Graham finished 2nd in the pole vault, clearing 9' 0".
