The Lakeland Athletic Department is very proud to announce that two senior student-athletes have been named as Finalists for the Michigan High School Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete Award for the 2025-2026 school year.

Meredith Peterson and Anna Linen are two of the 120 finalists selected from a group of 1,438 nominees/applicants.

Meredith is 4-year member of the Softball program. Besides Softball, Meredith is an exceptional scholar involved with numerous extracurricular groups at Lakeland. As a senior, she and a classmate started LHS Sideline Scoop, a social media platform that showcases Lakeland athletes. 

Anna, an International Academy West student, is a 4-year participant of the Girls Golf and Girls Basketball programs. As a golfer, she was part of Lakeland's most successful team ever this past fall. Anna has also contributed to the Girls Basketball programs' back-2-back LVC Championships in addition to a couple District Championships. She also is a member of the Huron Valley Wind Ensemble.

The MHSAA will announce the 6 Class A female winners on February 17th. Winners receive a $2,000 scholarship.

Lakeland had 9 additional student-athletes nominated: Kennedy Foote, Zoie Gagnon, Claire Linen, Payton Nelson, Amelie Strickfaden, Aubrey VanGoethem, James Bottomley, Gavin Johns,
and Exavier Moyer.
